Truth

I value the laughter of 10 friends more than the clapping of 10000 strangers on any given day.

Papers

Malaysian newspapers have published a lot of info about the US elections.
Lots of polls, especially.
about how John Kerry is leading in Connecticut, so on and so forth
and recently they also published a poll on how the rest of the world supports Kerry more than Bush.
and more polls about Kerry leading here and there.
and stuff about how Bush got beat in the debates.

In terms of newsworthiness, They missed the most newsworthy poll of all the polls in the context of the US presidential elections: George W. Bush is leading by 8 points in the United States of America as of 25th october, 2004. I'm not saying that Bush will win 6 days later, but they kinda missed the most relevant poll.

They are thousands of journalists in Malaysia, lots of CNN readers and viewers, and we missed THAT poll?

Talk bout' biasedness.

Lab

We are in the journalism lab

We're supposed to be studying.

But so far. After approximately 3 hours.

1. Ice cream. Mostly strawberry flavored.
2. Green tea with aloe vera.
3. Tom Yam fried rice.
4. Find gorillas.
5. Find bitches.
6. Sit next to Kristin and listen to her bitch about bitches.
7. Browse through hypertext narratives without actually browsing through hypertext narratives.
8. Zul and transvestites, or transexuals, or whatever.
9. Kerry Ann in office doing Gog knows what.
10. Benji sticking up posters with Fikri and me.
11. Benji discovering the posters falling off.
12. Wasting our time.
13. This post is boring.
14. Because its a reflection of how boring life can be during exam season.

I watched the West Wing last night.

Love of my Life

They say when you meet the love of your life, time stops, and that's true.
What they don't tell you is that when time starts moving again, it moves extra fast to catch up.

But who cares?

If you manage to grab hold of your love of your life, time can move extra fast but you will still be holding on to the love of your life.

And I couldn't care less if the world spun a trillion times ahead of me,
as long as I am able to hold on to the love of my life.

Lost

Only when the night finds me, will my love for her fade.

The night approaches always,
every day.
I am trapped in it. I am lost in it. I am within the night.
But the night can never find me.
Because I am lost in the night to night itself.

That my love will never fade.

The Point of View

I actually prepared this set of stuff for KG (that's cell groups in my CF). I sat in one of the cells and I thought Steven did a good job teaching the lesson. And I have no doubts that the other fellas did good jobs as well.

But thought I'd put my two cents worth on the topic. Part of it, anyway.

You know, in my course, we spend so much time learning about "subject positions" and all that nonsense I figure I might as well use it to explain my perspective of certain scriptures.

So anyway.

Think. Fast. In 2 seconds. Tell me which part of your body do you think is MOST important?

Time's up.

My guess is. You either picked... in no particular order.

1. Eyes
2. Heart
3. Brain
4. Hands

If not. I'm sure you picked something.

Now. Answer me in your most brutally honest self...

Do you want to be a backside?
or more frankly, do you want to be an assh*le?

Truth be told, I don't.

Let me interpret 1 Corinthians 12:12 to 24 for those who picked their favorite organ.

12 For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of thatone body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.
13 For by the Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free, and have been made to drink into one Spirit.

14 For the body is not one member, but many...

(fast forward)

22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary (Yup, they're neccessary, but that doesn't change the fact that I'M the brain!)

23 And those member of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor, and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness... (Yup, God can remind them backsides and toenails that they're important. Well, i'm the Eye, I KNOW I'm important. I know I'm not less honorable.)

24 For our comely parts have no need: but God has tempered the body together, having given more abundant honor to that part which lacked. (Yup, I think God's right. He should give those asses and back hairs abundant honor. Me being the hands, I KNOW I already have that honor)

25 That there should be no division in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. (Yup, that appendix and liver better get it right, or they're going to fail me, the Heart)
-----

Guess what. I KNOW none of you would agree with me there.
Because I believe its something subconscious.
Ask a 10 year old kid which member of a band would he want to be?
I'd bet you all the coins in my pocket that 7 out of 10 would say "singer".

I liked what Steven did in his group.
Everyone took turns. One said "eyes" so she can see the world, one said "heart", one said "mouth"... stuff like that.
Then Steven said, "so since you all pick everything already, how about me ah? I become the backside ah?"
Everyone laughed. But he made a darn good point there.

Look,
I don't want to be the backside myself.

I don't. I really don't.

But do you think that we really have that choice if God calls us to be that?

Well, actually we do.

We can say yes. Or we can say no.

God promised abundant honor.

Truth be told, do we know what that abundant honor is?

I don't think many of us do.

I really don't think so.

But to think that God would single out those who take the less glorious roles in their Christian walk... It must really mean that God appreciates them.

Because God specifically highlighted them!

God honors everyone who does something, no matter how insignificant it is.

We don't score more points for being the eye.

If the eye fails to see a road block up ahead.

Then it is less glorious than an backside doing its duty by disposing of junk. By leaps and bounds.

It is not the result of grandness that wins the heart of our God, but rather the meeting of the standards set for us by God, which in its own way, is the most grand in the eyes of God.

So do I want to be an assh*le?

No, I sincerely don't.

Most of us are not willing and capable of being willing. And that's fine.
But I think that most of us are capable of praying, "I'm willing to be made willing."

Now that's the thought I'm leaving you with. :)

Ha. Fakers.

Today Benjamin the big fat piece of chilli walked out of class.
And you know what?

HE DRAGGED ME OUT OF CLASS WITH HIM.

and you know what?

HE told Lyon that he was going to study. But you know what?

HE'S NOT!

He's staring at me blog about him.

Or rather tell lies about him.

He's such a piece of chilli.

The Cow is behind me. She just can't stop mooing.

She walked out of class TOO!

YOu know why???

Because COWS don't know what it means to sit in classes.

I mean... Do you think a bee can understand what an ant is saying?

A Cow can't understand English

Why do you think I shout "WHATTT!??" at her all the time?

Because she MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS at me instead of asking me something in proper English.

Then Benji the Chilli.

He farts very often.

I don't really know why i'm blogging about him and the cow.

But.

They're bugging me.

I'm going.

I wonder if cows eat chillis

I know I eat steak.

Koay Jetty Documentary

Heya people ( I actually don't know how many people actually read my blog, but oh well)

I've almost finished A Little Paradise : A Documentary on Koay Jetty, Penang

Here are the covers. Click on the pic for larger version.

Front Cover

Back Cover

Basically its like this: Its an old jetty. A group of minority Chinese live there. There's a mangrove beside it. Many birds live there. Many fishes as well. Thing is, our government wants to bulldoze the place, fill up the mangrove and build some highway (or shophouses) there.

So the NGOs there made a call to my lecturer, who forwarded the request to do a public awareness documentary on the place to me and a couple of friends, namely Zul and my PDA, Sze Ning.

So the three of us packed our bags and equipment and drove to Penang to shoot.

And now, three weeks later, the 25 minute documentary is almost ready to be distributed (at least in Penang. But since I'm in KL, it means I'll try to distribute it here. But the difference is, the NGOs there pay for the printing and distributing. But here... my wallet has vanished.)

I'll be done with this sometime next week. Find out more info in Szen's website. Its located at www.szen.frens.net

Oh, and let me take this opportunity to thank the many dudez who has given me lots of help and support over the last few months in the context of shooting and editing... I know I'm going to forget names here, but I'll try my best... PDA Szen, Kerry "Puta" Ann, Zul, Malina, Shazana, Benji Chilli, Sarah, Fikri, Nat, Wani, Lulu, Mei Yee and Dr.Y.

If I've forgotten your name please feel free to post a reply here.

And aiyah might as well announce this as well lah.
Me and Benji are now formulating a new project for the coming months...

Queen of Drama Queens

It will be starring some very... dramatic... actresses :)
Its gonna be a chick flick.

I'm retiring from documentaries for the time being.

Wait. Oh shucks. I DO have a "Radio and T.V. Journalism" documentary to hand in soon. Ish.

But anyway,

Queen of Drama Queens

About a bunch of drama queens.
Yup. It's gonna be a chick flick. And its gonna be cheesy.

Coming soon.

Dawg

Floss : A dog bit me yesterday

TMY : A dog bit you yesterday?

Floss : Yeah. A dalmation bit me at the leg.

TMY : A dalmation.

Floss : Yeah.

TMY : A wild dog or a home reared dog?

Floss : It was a dalamation.

TMY : Dalmation. So was it wild?

Floss : It was someone's dog.

TMY : And the dog bit you?

Floss : Yeah.

TMY : How?

Floss : It bit me.

TMY : Yeah. How?

Floss : Umm. There were two dogs...

TMY : Two dogs.

Floss : Yeah. One dog came behind and was wagging its tail. So I played with it for a while. Then when I turned around the other dog, the dalmation, suddenly bit me.

TMY : Ok. So you were playing with another dog and the dalmation bit you?

Floss : Yeah. I think the dalmation was jealous i was playing with the other dog or something.

TMY : Jealous?

Floss : Yeah. Jealous.

TMY : You mean. Wait. You're telling me you were flirting with some dog and the other dog got jealous that you were flirting with another dog? Since when did yuou start flirting with dogs?

Floss : No...

Ticket prices

Magnets.

They meet.

A paper is slit between.

A thin sheet of paper.

Then its really so close

yet so far.

because the two pieces of magnets are still drawn together by the same magnetic force

yet the two pieces of magnet are still apart.

Really so close.

So far.

In this scenario,

If magnets were like lovers.
Surely, they must wish and cry to God with all their heart that papers never existed.

But the paper will stay there.

And when that paper slips away. Another sheet will come.
There are billions upon billions of sheets of paper of all colors and sizes in the world.

And any one of those billions upon billions of sheets of paper can get between the two pieces of magnet.

And keep the two pieces of magnet from really touching one another.

And God's not going to destroy all the paper for the magnets.

Because I don't know why.

Chickens must wonder why did God create Eagles

Cows must wonder why God created crocodiles

Rats must wonder why God created cats, and so many species at that.

To be politically correct, balance is probably needed in the animal kingdom, hence the creation of such beasts. But do you really think that if the chicken, cow or rat had a real mind on their own they'll agree with God's plan for balance? Of course not, because after all, they're victimized and they're eaten and they'll be mad at God!!!

What do men and women ask God for? Many more things.
And God won't answer most of them. God won't change most things.
Why?
For his great reasons, I'm sure.
And for most of us, we'll be like the chicken, cow, or rat, thinking that God's reasonings must be lame, because we feel victimized in our situations.

But chickens, cows and rats have never died out after so many thousands of years. They've been flourishing well in that sense. Balance is there.
As humans we thank God for cats for clearing the rats
and the frogs for swallowing the fly
because we know it is good.

So as humans... We usually don't get to figure out too much about God's great plan.

And as much as I'm struggling.

As much as the magnet is angry.

I remember.

The magnet remembers.

"Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD , I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights. "
Habakkuk 3:17 - 19

such blind faith Habakkuk had.
And he deserved to have one book named after him in the Bible

when he did not achieve any sort of fantastic miracles or anything glorious like David or Moses.

It shows,
People aren't always remembered for their successes.

People are remembered for their faith.

Will the magnet peservere?

Will you?

Will I?
