He sings the songs...

Christianity...

What idealogy?

You can say that Christians are functionalists, that we are the outcome of definite practices.
This is because God does have a plan for us, and we function within his plan. I mean, Jesus had a goal when he was here on Earth, and that it to die for our sins. He functioned as savior of humanity from the deepest darkest (actually brightest, since fire is bright) hottest (not sexually) depths (I don't think of hell as deep, since if one keeps falling, he/she won't be able to stay still for long to get incinerated)

You can say that Christians are Marxists, that class plays a vital role, since the Bible talks so much about rich and poor, even if it may be in a less literal sense. Plus you DO realize that Jesus and the twelve disciples weren't the richest of people compared to the Romans... and there's such a big fuss about tax collectors and their profit making exploits... And you notice that Jesus always says something about the tax-collectors, and with regard to the appointment of the 12 disciples, the recruitment of Matthew is specially highlighted... why? Because he's a TAX COLLECTOR! God wanted to show that He can convert a profit minded man to become his follower! Amen to that!

That being said, you CAN say that Christians are capitalists, since God talks about debts and forgiving debts. In a utopic marxist society, where everything is equal fair and enough, debt shouldn't even be a word in existence. So perhaps God created the concept of capitalism so Christians can learn the meaning of forgiving from this perspective.

Are Christians a group of idealists? Maybe, since we are hoping for a final ideal which is the return of Jesus Christ and all that. But at least, unlike the Victorian, Post Victorian bla bla bla bla idealists, Christianity have a proven track record as idealists. So many prophecies that would be idealist in nature in the old testament times actually happened in the new testament. So. Aha!

You CAN argue that Christianity supports a monarchial/dictatorial rule, since the ultimate ending is Jesus' return to take his place as KING of heaven and earth. That being said, I know history tells us that monarchy doesn't work... King Louis the 3rd 4th or 5th (whichever and whoever got overthrown)... But Jesus is different. Jesus has a proven track record of being a humble down to earth kinda guy as demonstrated in the gospel of Matthew Mark Luke and John. So question of character doesn't even come to play because I don't think Queen whatshername ever walked down the streets in the state of Victoria for some fella to name that state "Victoria", and i'm quite sure Queen whatever her name is and King take-your-pick-name-whoever-you-want ever washed his own feet in his entire lifetime.

That all being said, there are so many more cultural, political, economic and religious idealogies that I didn't talk about... but I think generally speaking... God can work in all idealogies. God is present in whatever idealogy is at play because God is the maker of the idealogy itself. I know you Marxist extremists think that we make our own history. True, we do, but we create our own history by performing and fulfilling our functions within the frameworks of the perfect monarch's (God) perfect plan, that God's ideals can become reality in today's so called capitalist society.

Goodnight all.

I wrote all this off the top of my head due to stupendously un-interesting readings on a subject called Media, Culture, Power.

Do Tell.

Faith.

What does it take to have faith?

No, it does not require a whole lot of mental energy and strength. Well, maybe.

What does it take to have faith?

Many find faith a difficult word to absorb because they see cost.

What cost?

Cost.

To sacrifice the routine of human joy, pleasure and activity.

That's the word, sacrifice. To have faith is to sacrifice. Yes, that's true. To some extent.
To some extent. But in the sense that one is sacrificing the routine of human joy, pleasure and activity.

*

Sacrifice means to give something up for something else, sometimes willingly, sometimes not.

*

It is difficult to see the need for faith, because there is this growing trend that there is no need for it. I know that its a redundant statement but we'll leave that at that.

*

We learn that binaries are important because binaries make meaning. Binaries make sense. The simplest and corniest of examples will be to say that "there is good only because there is bad", because if "bad" didn't exist, there is no reason for "good" to exist.

Based on that. We take common binaries - up and downs, lefts and rights, for granted.
God and satan. It's a binary.

The difference between God and satan is.

God wants His gospel to be known to all men on Earth, and in order for that to happen, people need to hear about Him, know about Him... God needs to exist in the lives of people.

Satan, on the other hand, doesn't mind "not existing". This is because of two reasons. The first reason is that if satan didn't exist, he eliminates the binary formula. If satan doesn't register in someone's brain, chances are God doesn't as well. This leads to the second point. If someone has no concept of sin, that someone will have no concept of rightheousness. Satan thrives at being unknown to men because that's where he can start playing tricks.

*

This is why it is difficult for people to grasp the concept of having faith in God. People hear that God is a rightheous being... but they cannot grasp it because they cannot grasp the idea of sin. That even if they believe that there is one superior being in this universe, there is no need to believe in Him because... there just isn't anything to gain from it.

*

What do we do, then?

For those of us who know the existence of this binary between good and evil, we cannot take for granted that this concept is ingrained in each and every one of the six billion people on this blue green planet.

Because many people don't.

*

Sacrifice.

When one chooses to plant his or her faith in God. What's the sacrifice?

The sacrifice now is to quite unwillingly give up the routine of human joy, pleasure and activity.

which isn't ideal.

If people understood the true existence of God and satan, the true borders of rightheousness and sin, then the sacrifice would be different.

It would be a willing sacrifice of the ways of unrightheousness to follow a rightheous God.

*

So what's my point?

*

Tell.

X-Men 3 : Who should do it?

There's this nasty rumor that ever since Bryan Singer has left the job.... Joss Whedon is gonna take over the job. Now... I don't like him.
I'll run thru these 8 names for you... I don't neccesarily like them... But I've listed them for good reason, in my opinion at least.

Bryan Singer - He left. He made X-Men and X2. Both were good shows. But he left.

Joss Whedon - He's the director/writer of Buffy and Angel... Now what the *********? I heard he wrote some comics, but SO WHAT? Anyone associated with Buffy and Angel can't be used in the X-Men franchise. I don't even understand why his name got brought up!?

Guillermo Del Toro - He did Blade and Hellboy. Now... If you want X-Men 3 to be action packed. he can do it. Hellboy had some reasonable quality in terms of acting. But his style varies from Singer quite a bit... so... But if he were to do it I wouldn't mind too much.

Steven Soderbergh - Ok, so Solaris was a flop. But at least he's a good character flesher, something which X-Men has. X-Men is unlike most action flicks cos it's got character in the story and character in the character. Soderbergh might be able to pull of the strained relationship between Phoenix and Cyclops. But I wouldn't go for him. He wouldn't want to do this anyway. So the feeling's mutual.

Sam Raimi - He should stick to Spiderman.

Kerry Conrad - Now this is the guy I'm looking out for. Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow apparently is a good good film. And it was his FIRST ever film. The film's got good visuals, good style and apparently a good story... Now... he might be it for me.

Richard Donner - Now if he took the X-Men job it'll be ironic, cos he directed the first two Supermans. His wife, Lauren Shuler Donner, is already one of the producers of the X-Men franchise... plus he's a high profile director... namely Lethal Weapon and Superman... Oh well.

Antoine Fuqua - He's the MAN! Ok, Tears of the Sun sucked and King Arthur was OK at best. BUt training day was so fantastic!!! Fuqua has a problem... He always makes films with good characters and all... but the story always lacks. So anyway... If he can take it to another level with X-Men 3, we might be in for a pleasant surprise.

That's my 2 cents worth on the issue.

I was watching Hellboy.

Some guy was talking to the FBI director, showing him pictures of Hellboy.

Toilet Fight

Kay Aye is in the ladies washroom. She is wearing black slacks and a stylish looking baby-t shirt that says "Slap Me. I'm hot." She is standing by the sink. She is applying lipstick on her lips while staring into the mirror. It's a dark red lipstick to go with her pale white facial skin. She is adoring and admiring her own face. Her own lips.

Aise Einn walks into the ladies washroom. She is wearing an oriental cheongsam. The red cheongsam is quite obviously a dress of high quality, used only for important functions. She places her little handbag by the sink and rummages gently for her lipstick. She gives a vain look of self-adoration into the mirror before beginning to apply the light pink lipstick on her thin lips.

Kay Aye gives a sideway glance at Aise Einn. The kind of sideway glance that says "Oh, does she think she's very pretty?" in the most envious tone.

Aise Einn notices Kay Aye's ugly look, so without must hesitation, turns to Kay Aye and says, "What are you looking at, b**ch?"

"Look who you're callin' a bitch, b**ch. And I was looking at your lipstick. It doesn't match you orange face and red dress. Very much a turn-off." snapped Kay Aye.

"Look, b***ch, I'm not trying to turn you on. And you can keep your opinion to yourself. At least I don't need to use a t-shit that says "Slap Me, I'm Hot" to make people realize I'm hot. Because I'm hot. At first glance." replied Aise Einn.

"Oh that was a little bit too outrageous don't you think? I was only talking about your lipstick. Your un-branded lipstick, if I may add."

"No you may not add, you filthy little fish. And my lipstick looks better than yours. Your lipstick look as though you've gotten into a fight and your lips is permanently bruised." commented Aise Einn.

"Keep talkin and I'll give you a REAL bruise, b**ch." threatened Kay Aye.

"You can try. But I’d rather you slap yourself, since you said 'Slap me, I'm Ho-" Poof. Kay Aye punches Aise Einn right in her nose. Caught off guard, Aise Einn staggers backwards.

Kay Aye, flexible due to her wearing pants instead of a skirt, jumped as high as the toilet ceiling and kicked Aise Einn right at her face again. Aise Einn flies backwards and rams the wall.

A few wall tiles cracks.

Kay Aye lands on the ground and stands in a kung-fu stance. Aise Einn gets up, wipes whatever blood is in her face, and charges towards Kay Aye.

Turns out both of them know kung-fu.

Aise Einn tries punching Kay Aye left right and center but to no avail. So she pushes Kay Aye backwards, and with whatever time she bought herself tore the side of her cheongsam so she can utilize her legs.

So now they start fighting for real. Kay Aye, after a series of punches and kicks, grabs Aise Einn's hair, pulls it kicks her leg to make her lose her balance. Aise Einn screams in pain.

Kay Aye then smashes Aise Einn's face into the mirror. Kaplang! Another mirror. Kaplang! Another mirror! Aise Einn looks really bloody now. Her face is stuck with a million pieces of shattered and powdered glass.

"Ugh." Out of extreme pain, Aise Einn exhales. She snaps out of it very quickly, since she notices Kay Aye flinging her little handbag at her face again. Aise Einn dodges the hit and makes her way for the door. Kay Aye reaches Aise Einn in time to rest her hand on the door. Aise Einn, out of frustration, gives Kay Aye a knee at the belly, then opens the door and slams the door at Kay Aye's face.

Kay Aye, in a reflex move, stamps on Aise Einn's foot. Kay Aye then grabs Aise Einn's hair and pushes her backwards and Kaplang! Another mirror.

Aise Einn grabs Kay Aye's hair in retaliation and now both of them are locked by pulling each other's hair. In a nice turn and acrobatic move, Aise Einn smashes Kay Aye's head in the last remaining mirror. Kaplang!

Then they start another flurry of kung-fu moves.

Kay Aye finally manages to grab Aise Ann's face again smashes into a sink scattered with little pieces of glass.

Now Aise Einn's face is really bleeding with a lot of glass. She tries to dust some of it off her face, despite its pain. That move of hers gives Kay Aye another opportunity to attack.

"I'll help you clean your face, b***h" Kay Aye shouts.

She kicks Aise Einn's belly over and over again until she's almost paralyzed, or numb at least, then grabs her hair tightly. Kay Aye then drags Aise Einn's body. One hand on her hair, and the other wringing her neck, to one of the cubicles.

Kay Aye slams Aise Einn's body on the wall of the cubicle, bitch slaps her a few times, says, "This is for talking smart with me. I'm going to clean your face now."

Then Kay Aye stuffs Aise Einn's head into the toilet bowl and without hesitation flushes. Aise Einn struggles like a madwoman.

But with her head well stuck in the toilet bowl, her body was in no position to retaliate.

Kay Aye flushes again.

And again.

And again.

And again.

Still Aise Einn struggles.

Flush.

Flush.

Finally Kay Aye pulls Aise Einn's head out

"Oh my, clean now. You're rather beautiful now. In an ugly way."

True enough. Aise Einn looked clean. And white. Lipstickless. Almost fainted.

Kay Aye drags her out and while dragging her out, Aise Einn grabs her handbag without Kay Aye knowing, pulls out a blade in her bag and stabs Kay Aye's leg. Kay Aye screams, drops Aise Einn and kneels down to grab her leg.

Aise Einn, without hesitation, swings the blade right at Kay Aye's face.

Kay Aye dies.

Aise Einn then struggles, stands up over Kay Aye's dead body and says, "I'm the lipstick queen. Slap me."

Immortality

We, as youths, think we're immortal sometimes.

Very often, in fact.

We forget we're doomed to die.
We forget that the world around us makes no effort in keeping us alive.
That everything we do is ink on our book.
We forget that we have an end somewhere.
Sometimes within our sight.

Yet sometimes our youthfulness blinds us from seeing our own end.

Sometimes we don't even stop
to think:
What's next?

Sometimes we don't even care
to think:
Where're we going?

Sometimes we don't even pause
to wonder:
Is there anywhere left to go

. Posted by Hello

Very often we think
We are blooming roses.
So vibrant in color. So attractive in sight.
Sometimes we believe in the power of the rose
Sometimes we believe it to be immortal

All the time, we forget its color fades
sooner than we would like it to.

Are we fading away?

Are we aware of ourselves?

That we're not merely existing
That we're not immortals

That we cannot, for the life us,
tell what's two steps ahead of us.

Sh*t

You know what's the thing about communication?
We always talk about discourses, mediations, contexts, power, knowledge... yaada yaada yaada
We talk about authorial criticism
We talk about originality
We talk about possible readings
possible interpretations

Here's a quote. A friend, Nat, passed it on to me.

"Some 'educators' have suggested that communication is open to interpretation, and that because everyone has a different view of what words mean that there is no perfect communication. This is false. How do I know? Because if you tell these educators they're full of s--- they'll know perfectly well what you mean."
from The Importance of Communication, Jeffrey Scott

Bush vs Kerry : Whoever loses, we win

"My opponent recently announced that he is the candidate of 'conservative values', which must have come as a surprise to a lot of his supporters. Now, there are some problems with this claim. If you say the heart and soul of America is found in Hollywood, I'm afraid you are not the candidate of conservative values."
American president George W. Bush, commenting on his Democratic presidential contender John Kerry, during the recent Republican National Convention, New York.

Love 101 - Session (a)

Let me introduce you to my "Love 101" class.
I don't profess to be the master of this topic, but certainly I will share my thoughts here.
Feel free to disagree. Or agree.

And keep it mind that its not always about romantic love.
I can be any form of love.

Anyway,
enough of the introduction.

Love 101
Session (a)

1. Love is 1% feeling, 99% choice
2. Choices of other people with regards to love must be respected
3. Your choices should not violate the choices of other involved people

That's it for lesson one!
