A House

There's this house... It's not very big. Just your average home. Enough for two people to live in, at least for now, anyway. Inside the house, the most important feature is that everything is in present time. The inside of the house is what we understand as 'now'. It is inside the house that we do most of our living. Everything is in present tense in the house.

Except for everything, that is. The pictures hung on the wall tell stories of yesterday in its most blatant form, by well... showing pictures. Inside the storeroom and the random stray box lying somewhere around the house are little tokens collected from past adventures. Even the 'present time' materials have memories attached to them. It's how we know we are in the present, by knowing that some things are in the past.

Outside the house, everything is in future forms. It is our hopes, our dreams, our desires, intentions, and every possibility. Outside the house, the decisions are ambigious for now. But there are many decisions. We use the words 'will' and 'going to'. Sometimes we use 'maybe'. Nothing is certain. But most things are pleasant. Most things are good things out there. There are bad things too, of course. But we only appreciate the good what's good when we know how bad the bad stinks.

Sometimes we peek outside the house. Sometimes we take the keys and go out for a stroll in the garden, along the road, and sometimes at the nearby park. On one or two occasions, we actually flew to the moon. I can't wait for the time when we would go out further than that, and not go back into the house. It would mean that we'd have to build a new house. A new present time. And look forward to a new future time.

Ah never know. I am hiding the keys.
But you have the spare.
I open the door sometimes and you run out like a bunny on Duracells.
