Spirited Away

"He that has no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls."
Proverbs 25:28

And I do know that I am of the above. I have no rule over my own spirit, neither do I seem to have the strength to challenge myself to.
----------------

Here is a short excerpt of the character I respect and admire the most in all of the Bible, Jesus aside:

"Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years. And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the ways of David his father, and did not turn aside to the right, nor to the left."

For in the eight year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelft year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images."
2 Chronicles 34:1-3]

He was 8 when he became king. He was 16 when he sought after the Lord with all his heart. He was 20 when he took on his own nation, and succeeded. When he was 22 he rebuilt the temple of God.

He wouldn't have achieved all this if he didn't know who God was. And it amazes me, that by his adulthood (by modern standards), he had changed the face of Israel and Judah. Sure, context and all that would suggest that it is almost impossible for an 8 year old kid to be elected King or Prime Minister today.

But still, he knew God, and knew God well.

And that is what I desire.

"And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah, and all the singing men and the singing women spoke of Josiah in their lamentations to this day, and made them an ordinance in Israel: and, behold, they are written in the lamentations.

Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his goodness, according to that which was written in the law of the Lord, and his deeds, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah."
2 Chronicles 25-27

I believe he ended well. The only other king in his era who died and had any mention of a beautiful funeral in which his death was lamented to God by the great prophets was David.

I don't want to change the world, but certainly, I seek purpose.
---------------------

As life takes turn after turn, towards further uncertainties, insecurities, fear, pain, or whatever else.

"Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return: the Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord."
Job 1:21

"Your kingdom come. Your will be done on Earth, as it is in heaven."
Matthew 6:10

"For God is not the author of confusion(disorder), but of peace, as in all churches of the saints."
1 Corinthians 14:33

And so, let my spirit believe that. Let my spirit believe that.

"If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliverus from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king
(nebuchadnezzar)... But if not, be it known unto you, O King, that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image that you have set up."
Daniel 3.18
