The Unpatriotic Patriots

You know what's the problem with Malaysia?

1. We have no national ethnicity! Meaning to say, we are rojak! We are not all blondes and snow white skinned people. We are generally, in a nut-shell, a bunch of dark browned, light browned, yellowish browned, moderate browned skinned people.

2. We have no common language! Well, we do speak English, and we DO speak Bahasa Malaysia, but we have no... ETHNIC language, like... I don't know... Like French or Italian or Greek.

3. We have no common history! The textbooks tell lies!!! Sabah and Sarawak did not go through what they went through. Apparently, the MOST accurate way of knowing Malaysian history is asking your grandpa and granma and great great granpa and granmas for their tales.

Let me say this.

1. We will NEVER have the problem called, "WHITE SUPREMACIES" where we shoot the crap at black kids. WE do have racial differences, but we do not SHOOT THE *toot* out of blackish people. ANd we don't jeer at races at football games, like how some WHITish colored people do.

We don't have a singular ethnicity. But let our ethnicity-less-ness by our ethnicity.

2. Who needs a common language? All forms of language are just... constructions. As long as we get the point through with whatever language we can speak, that's good enough. Does having a national language make you superior to others? No, it makes you look like a 17th century elitist with no life.

3. We do have a common history. Our forefathers and foremothers somehow, in one way or another, got themselves onto this piece of land. What they went through, what happened between then and now, is the trillions of versions of history that we hear today. Who needs a common history. Even the most... factual history, like Roman history, or American history are nothing more but a version of history... Just a version. One man's perspective or many people's perspective? I would choose the history with more perspectives.

This bloody country isn't perfect. But it isn't that bad either.

The key is to be content. There is more to life than social criticism.
