A Good Student?

Here is a list of attributes a good student should have. I just made them up.
This is based on thousands and thousands of years of social construction and an unlimited range of discourses on education systems and perceptions.

1. Handsome. Wait. That's not true.
2. Hardworking
3. Dilligent
4. Respectful to lecturers/teachers/mentor/someone who gives you knowledge on a consistent basis.
5. Male
6. Teachable
7. Intelligent

Anyway. The two pictures below was taken during some lecturer's lecture this morning. Based on the above list of a what constitutes a good student, lets see how well students today generally fare.

a. This is a box of milk.                               b. This is an egg sandwich

1. Handsome. Yes, well, the cafeteria charges a handsome fee for little things. Don't ask for elaboration.
2. Hardworking. Yes. Well, no.
3. Dilligent. Yes. We were being practical. We were aware that without a source of energy, we wouldn't be able to last through the lecture.
4. Respectful to lecturers/teachers/mentor/someone who gives you knowledge on a consistent basis. Yes, very often, whenever we can, we offer to share our food.
5. Male. No, because it was a female eating that sandwich. So this shows that women can receive higher education as well.
6. Teachable. Yes. We've been taught that food gives us energy. It's not a social construct. Its a biological need.
7. Intelligent. Yes, because we have mastered the art of multi-tasking. Breakfast, lecture and note-taking all at the same
time. Teachers should be proud of our practical intelligence.

So, since it is a "yes" for 5 out of the above 7 traits of a good student. I suppose it is safe to say that students of this modern generation ain't too far off from being pretty good students.

If you happen to be some lecturer reading this. No, your lectures ain't boring. It's just that between food and notes, the point is food keeps us biologically alive.... so yeah. hahahaha.
