The Big Four Approaches

Starting May, the big four contenders are going to try to kick each other up for a lot (a lot) and a lot (a lot) of money. Who will win?

In the first corner

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

The trailer is fantastic. Out of the big 4, this movie's trailer is the best. Clik here to watch.

Starring:
Johnny Depp
Orlando Bloom
Keira Knightley
Geoffrey Rush
Chow Yun Fat
Bill Nighy
Keith Richards

Second corner

Shrek the Third

Dunno why but not looking forward to this. I liked Shrek 2 but that's about it.

Starring:
Mike Myers
Cameron Diaz
Eddie Murphy
Antonio Banderas
Justin Timberlake

Third corner

Spiderman 3

Can Spidey top his previous movie?
Never know. The difference between Shrek/Spiderman and Pirates is that Pirates has an obvious story continuity going on, but for Shrek/Spiderman... there's this sense that they're just churning it out... I could be wrong but let's wait and see.

Starring:
Tobey Maguire
Kirsten Dunst
Topher Grace
James Franco
Thomas Hayden Church

Last corner

Transformers

The only untested film out of the big 4 (the other 3 movies were box office champions in their year). But it's big because.... it's Transformers. And to top it off, it's got Michael Bay.

Starring:
Optimus Prime
Megatron
Starscream
Bumblebee
Shia LaBeouf

*

On a musical note 3 out of the 4 films above have Remote Control/Media Ventures composers (or formerly). Zimmer for Pirates, GregsonWilliams for Shrek, and Jablonski (i think) for Transformers. Chris Young is working on Spidey 3 (replacing the ohsowonderful Danny Elfman)

*

Lightweight contenders:
Live Free or Die Hard
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Stardust
