Random Trivia for "Lov"
So I'm making a new short film, called "LOV". If you want to do away with the details you can jump straight to the timeline/trivia at the bottom. This is a lengthy post. Been meaning to tell this story for a while, but never got around to it cos this film just kept on not being made.

Synopsis
A series of unrelated short stories (including a photo story about, you guessed it, a stick and a match) about the best friends and love. Is it okay for "best" friends to fall in love with each other, are they already in love and not know it, or is it an absolutely icky yucky thing to even think about? In short, this short film asks the question, "What if my best friend is the love of my life? Will time stop?"
Okay lameless.

So here's what happened:
October 2005 - Captivation completed. I started thinking of a new film to make. Decided that I wanna do something about love again.
November 2005 - Finished Takau 1.5. Around this time I remember discussing with Shi Ying about an interracial love story again. Something along the the lines of two people really loving each other, and one of them. Can't remember for sure what the story was now, but it involved a rape scene. It was around that time when the title "Lov" first surfaced.
December 2005 - Started writing Robotica, a science fiction/drama, about an alien who comes to Earth, and starts learning things about multiracial Malaysia and multinational Earth, and finds it all ridiculous how we mix race/nationality and whatever else into how we live our lives.
Mind you, in my head I had the entire picture, but never got past 5 pages on the computer.
January 2006 - Various drafts of LOV completed. Went on a writing spree. Story now focuses on a systematic male womanizer, Paul, who cheats on his wife, Gillian, and how his system of meeting different women at different times eventually collapses. Slightly provocative story, but an honest one. Aaron Lee was set to play Paul.

various poster concepts at the time
February 2006 - Unable to start filming due to a trillion different reasons. No equipment, bad timing, bla bla bla.
March 2006 - Decided to say farewell to LOV once again.
April - May 2006 - Spent most of my video life campaigning for Sunway-Monash Christian Fellowship camp: Stop. Listen. Go. Did two promo videos and one post-camp slide show.
June 2006 - Started converting a short story by my dear friend Susanna Khoo into something filmable. Started filming some scenes with Joanne playing the lead role. Basically it's about a girl's lost love and her encounter with a character called Loneliness. It was gonna be a noir-ish flashback thingy... Tentatively titled it Of Those Who Love
June 2006 - Cancelled Of Those Who Love cos I looked back at the footage and decided that it looked too crappy. The sets anyway, not the performers. It looked nothing like what it's supposed to be, not even mildly.
July 2006 - Revived the interracial romance idea again (After toying around with an idea about a global assassination of superheroes). Then decided, "Heck it. If I can't find an actor who can spend time making this, then I'm just gonna make many short stories with different people so that no one needs to be committed beyond an hour or so".
July 2006 - Got an idea from a friend about how icky it can be, but also how sweet it can be, for best friends to fall in love. About how it just makes sense to do so. Decided that it will be the theme of the film. Started filming with Eddie and Joanne, then with Lynette and Chien Aun.
August 11, 2006 - Filming continues slowly. Around this time I decided to title the film "Lov". So finally, LOV is being made, after almost a year of waffling around.
August 14, 2006 - Sample recording of some bits of the film done, and sent to Bei Yan so that she has something to refer to when writing the music.
August 16, 2006 - Shu Yi completes recording of opening and ending narration in true Paris Hilton style in an hour. Most footages uploaded to PC. Editing begins. LOV officially enters post-production phase

More to film next week. Maybe one or two more scenes.

So there you go. Mini journey of a mini film.
After that I'll part ways with Cheesy Studios for REAL. Lol.
